Q1: What’s this all about?

A1: Gende’s Giant is nothing more than a thank you to all the members of Gentle Giant for the music they’ve made (and are now, at least in part, making again as the amazing Three Friends. Please support them). In short, we love the music. That’s it.

Q2: Do you think you’re better than Gentle Giant or Three Friends? —
or… Who do you think you are?

A2: See the What’s this all about answer, above. No, we don’t pretend to compete with the iconoclastic GG on any level. As for Three Friends, we are thrilled to hear of this. More power (and glory) to them. They are surely our betters by a wide margin.

Q3: What happened to the band I saw on YouTube from 2006?

A3: Those talented players were all basically hired to perform (though two were hardcore Giant fans). Nothing wrong with that, but it wasn’t really a band, as one former member kindly pointed out to me. However, I wanted just that. So, after ’06, I set out to assemble a group whose members had talent, other means of support besides music, and who loved Gentle Giant. The band you see on this site is the result, after a couple of fits and starts.

Q4: Does anyone in the Gentle Giant camp know of this project?

A4: Yes. I’ve reached out the Mr. Derek Schulman, The Minnear family, and Mr. Gary Green. The latter two have kindly allowed us to proceed, which we appreciate very much. Still waiting for word from Mr. Schulman. If anyone associated with the group ever tells us to cease and desist, we will do so forthwith.

Q5: How often/where do you play?

A5: Anywhere and at anytime possible. We all have jobs and families, but are available to perform anywhere possible/practical (we’ll travel). Get on our Email List for info on shows, as well as following the Shows link on this site. As for how often, not very, heretofore.

Q7: How come you haven’t answered my question, ya twit?

A7: Because I’ve not heard it yet. Send any questions to the email address in A6, and if they seem applicable to the FAQ, you’ll see ’em here.

Q8: How do you pronounce "Gende" anyway? What kinda name is that?

A8: You pronounce it with a hard G like in "green", then "end", and finally a long "e" at the end. It’s a Slovenian name, my Dad is 100%.
