March 2007: Gende's Giant Reformation! Back For Another Swing...Hey All! After our Rochester show (which was a lot of fun, what a great crowd), it was clear that some changes had to be made if the group was going to continue (or if I was going to continue financing it). So, after some soul searching and asking some people I respect for advice, we went looking for a new crew. This time, the aim was "no compromises". Please understand this has nothing to do with former member's abilities. These guys are/were fantastic musicians. If you are ever in Chicago and need players, hire them! But, I realized the need for less full-time, jobbing players. Rather, a group like this requires more "I hope I get paid, but I'm doing it because I love it" types. Have a look at the Band link and see what we've come up with. Pretty fantastic, where did they come from? We've had a few rehearsals, one lasting over 6 hours. They're into it, and I foresee shows in the future (know somewhere we could play anywhere on planet earth? Email me! mgende@gendesign.com!). At the end of the day, while it was looking pretty bleak for a time, the band is back to being "alive and well". Our new show should be even more like the band we're humbly attempting to emulate. I'll add news here about songs, etc, as we progress. To sum up, looks like we're back on track and better - as a band - than before.
